According to Robert Parker, Collemattoni’s Brunello di Montalcino 2006 got 92+ pts. It is a big, bold wine imbued with wild cherries, earthiness, tar, smoke and grilled herbs. This shows more of the rustic side of Sangiovese in its hearty personality, but there is more than enough substance in the fruit to balance some of the wine’s edgier qualities. Licorice, new leather and French oak linger on a round, harmonious finish that compensates for some of the wine’s small imperfections.
According to Wine Spectator, this wine got 91 pts. It delivers a mix of cherry, raspberry and cocoa aromas and flavors, picking up spice and tobacco elements on the finish. This is open and inviting, tightening up on the finish.
